General Artist - Wizards of the Coast

We’re working hard to bring Magic: Spellslingers to life with Wizards of the Coast and are looking for a General Artist to join our development team. The ideal General Artist candidate will work closely with the Art Lead to create high quality and visually consistent 3D and 2D assets across various projects and styles for console, PC, and mobile platforms.

This will begin as a Full Time Temporary position with potential for conversion to a Full Time Regular employee after 4 months. Necessary hardware and software will be provided to support a remote work environment.

  • Create stunning visuals that support projects in a timely manner
  • Ability to create both 2D and 3D assets
  • Broad understanding of basic UI, Modelling, Textures and VFX techniques
  • Investigate and test optimal approaches for each platform that hit the highest quality within the given tool sets
  • Experience with Maya or equivalent modeling programs
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop or equivalent 2D programs
  • Experience with Unity is required
  • Ability to create 3D and 2D elements for use in a 3D engine, UI, or marketing materials
  • Proficient knowledge of traditional art concepts
  • Ability to review complex suggestions/problems and resolve in an effective manner
  • Strong understanding of modeling and texturing techniques
  • Works closely with the art team to develop new techniques, and ability to decide a priority art skill to focus on
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to keep a clear and consistent schedule
  • Inter-department work with Engineering, Design, and Production as needed
  • Understanding of bug fixing and investigation
  • Experience with PBR lighting and materials
  • Experience with Substance Designer, Substance Painter or equivalent programs
  • Make visually impactful moments that show a strong understanding of both real and cartoony visuals
  • Work effectively with other artists and engineers to achieve project goals
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, or recent graduate from an Art or Graphics Design school

Candidate should provide portfolio of art that they have created or directed and a resume detailing the projects/studios that they have been a part of. An art test may be required.
